Little fingers ruffle

Bible pages turn

Seeking words of wisdom

Not too young to learn

Searching little fingers

Caressing every word

Though she's not yet reading

Oh what she has heard

Yet, one day the rustling

Will with meaning spin

For with time, its passage

Reading will begin

I today with wonder

Watch her growing need

And one day with pleasure

I will watch her read!

8-10-06 Written about Ella Hainey, a two year old little "sister" in my congregation who was sitting at the meeting ruffling the pages of her fathers Bible. No one noticed her but me and I, of course, had to write about it.
