"Little Fingers"

Little fingers now appear
Before me here today
Wonders of the universe
A baby’s come to stay
Spread those fingers wide young man
And reach out thus to grasp
Worlds of wonder you will find
And hold within your clasp
Day to day you’ll touch the things
The world will bring to you
You will learn of wonders still
Yet just ahead tis true
Of those tiny fingers here
That reach out thus to me
They are touching wonders found
And others yet to be

* 12-29-05 written for Oliver Maxwell Cox. I went into rhyme during the meeting after seeing those tiny little fingers reaching out and waving like he was searching to grasp something. Oliver is around two weeks old at this point.
